Manufacturer: 3M+KCI
Brand: Fibracol

FIBRACOL™ Plus Collagen Wound Dressing with Alginate uses an advanced combination of 90% collagen and 10% calcium alginate fibers to create an ideal moist wound healing environment that encourages tissue formulation.

How it Works
A patented process blends the support collagen provides with the gel-forming capabilities of alginate, utilizing natural body polymers to create a sterile, absorbent and soft dressing that conforms to the wound bed.

Once in contact with the wound’s exudate, the dressing helps to create a moist surface environment that assists with granulation tissue formation and epithelialization and allows the injury to heal at a faster rate.

Ideal as a primary dressing, FIBRACOL™ Plus Collagen Wound Dressing with Alginate can be cut to the wound’s exact shape, layered to help deep wounds heal and can be used with a semi- or non-occlusive secondary dressing.

Benefits
FIBRACOL™ Plus Collagen Wound Dressing with Alginate:

• Helps a range of wounds heal, regardless of exudate level.
• Offers a cost-effective treatment solution, helping patients save $411.40 per wound, compared to standard care costs, according to data from the U.S. Wound Registry.
• Delivers a clinically proven exudate-management solution, including for low- to heavy-exudate injuries.
• Can be cut to size to fit a range of injuries.
• Can be used in conjunction with compression therapy, with medical supervision.

• Diabetic ulcers
• Venous ulcers
• Pressure injuries
• Mixed vascular etiology ulcers
• Full- and partial-thickness wounds
• Second-degree burns
• Donor sites
• Bleeding surface wounds
• Abrasions
• Traumatic wounds healing by secondary intention

To apply:

1. Debride the wound, and irrigate the site with a normal saline solution. Remove all solution from the surrounding skin.
2. Cut the dressing with scissors prior to application:
a. If the wound is generating a high amount of exudate, apply the dressing directly the wound bed.
b. If exudate is low, moisten the wound bed before applying the dressing.
c. For deep wounds, loosely pack the dressing into the wound.
3. Cover and secure the dressing with a non-occlusive secondary dressing, semi-occlusive dressing or tape that won’t irritate the surrounding skin.
4. Change the dressing once it is completely absorbed with exudate:
a. With heavy-exudate wounds, the dressing may need to be changed once or twice daily.
b. For moderate-exudate wounds, change the dressing every two to four days, or as directed by a physician.
5. When changing and re-applying a dressing, always irrigate the wound with a saline solution first to remove residual gel.
