What is Cutimed Sorbact Gel?
Cutimed Sorbact Gel is a combination antimicrobial and hydrogel dressing. Cutimed Sorbact Gel reduces bacterial load by using all the features and benefits of Cutimed Sorbact dressings, and at the same time it is impregnated with a preservative-free, amorphous hydrogel that promotes moist wound healing. It is ideal for unclean, colonised and infected wounds that are dry or have low levels of exudate.
Cutimed Sorbact binds and removes bacteria. It is coated with DACC (dialkylcarbamoylchloride), a highly hydrophobic fatty acid derivative that wound bacteria find very attractive. Bacteria become bound to Cutimed Sorbact, and to each other, so they are unable to move back to the wound bed. Physical removal of the bacteria may help reduce bacterial toxin release and replication.
Features:
• Wound contact layer impregnated with a hydrogel
• Promotes autolytic debridement
• Used for slough or partly necrotic wounds
• Binds and removes bacteria
Intended Use for Cutimed Sorbact Gel
Cutimed Sorbact Gel is intended for use in management of clean, contaminated, colonized or infected wounds with dry to low exudate levels, such as traumatic wounds, burns, cavity wounds, fistulas, pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers and foot and leg ulcers
How to Use Cutimed Sorbact Gel
Step 1: Prepare the wound according to local clinical practice
Step 2: Select an appropriate size for the wound
Step 3: Remove the dressing from the pouch using an antiseptic technique
Step 4: If cutting the dressing, use an antiseptic technique. Discard any open and unused dressing
Step 5: Apply the dressing. Ensue that the dressing comes into direct contact with the complete wound surface. The dressing should not overlap the surrounding skin.
Step 6: In cavity wounds and fistulas, always leave part of the dressing sticking out so that it can be easily removed.
Step 7: Apply an appropriate secondary dressing, like Cutimed Sorbion Border
Step 8: The dressing can be left in for 7 days, but dressing change frequency depends on exudate levels and the overall condition of the wound.
