Flivasorb dressings center around a highly absorbent fiber core. The material draws in fluid, holding onto many times its weight in exudate without releasing its contents. This combination protects the wound from maceration and infection and is ideal for use with compression bandages. This is the adhesive version of the dressing.
How Do Flivasorb Superabsorbent Dressings Work?
Adhesive Flivasorb superabsorbent dressings consist of two parts.
An absorbent pad composed of superabsorbent polymers — polyethylene, polypropylene, cellulose and sodium polyacrylate — absorbs and holds onto the wound’s fluid.
A backing layer made without colophony and its derivatives uses a polyurethane membrane with skin-compatible polyacrylate adhesive to remain in place during wear.
Benefits of Flivasorb Superabsorbent Dressings
Together, these aspects create a dressing that:
• Holds onto a high amount of exudate in proportion to its weight — nearly 20 times.
• Requires fewer dressing changes, thus placing less stress on the wound.
• Decreases maceration risks while creating a healing-supportive wound environment.
• Offers thin and flexible construction that cushions without sticking directly to the wound.
Uses for Flivasorb Absorbent Dressings
Flivasorb dressings assist with healing acute and chronic wounds generating a moderate to high amount of fluid. Injuries include:
• Diabetic foot ulcers
• Venous leg ulcers
• Pressure ulcers
• Postoperative wounds
Dressings should not be cut before use.
