Prevent Contamination With ExSept Plus Wound Cleanser
ExSept Plus wound cleanser is used for skin site preparation prior to injection, instrument use or dialysis and for catheter exit site cleaning. ExSept Plus helps to prevent the risk of bacterial contamination and skin infections and is a valuable alternative to iodine for skin site antisepsis.
ExSept Plus is an outstanding clinical tool that helps to prevent the risk of bacterial contamination or skin infection. It has excellent, proven antibacterial, virucidal and fungicidal activity and displays high resistance to contamination.
Infections occurring at the exit site following dialysis can be fatal. For preparing the skin before injections and for exit site cleaning, ExSept Plus Wound Cleanser uses Sodium Hypochlorite (NaOCl), 0.114%, to:
- Decrease contamination risks.
- Offer broad-spectrum antibacterial protection, including against Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus faecalis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, MRSA and VRE.

Does Exsept plus Burn?
No, it is non-cytotoxic, non-irritating and gentle to the wound site. In order to reduce the incidence of maceration of the surrounding tissue, EXSEPT PLUS® should only be used in the wound bed.

EXSEPT PLUS® is stable for 6 months after opening and has a 30 month shelf life from the date of manufacture.

How to Use ExSept Plus
Remove the cap from the EXSEPT PLUS® bottle.
- Pour the EXSEPT PLUS® solution generously over the wound site, ensuring thorough coverage of all areas.
- It is advisable to let the cleanser remain in place for two minutes before using multiple gauze pads to gently remove it.
- If additional cleansing pressure is required, you can utilize a 35ml syringe equipped with a 19 gauge needle, delivering approximately 8 PSI to effectively clean the wound. (To minimize the risk of skin maceration, consider using a skin protectant.)
