Meet the Monks – Trick-or-Treat Edition

Hello friends! It’s time for a special Halloween edition of Meet the Monks!!!

Once again, each of our staff members were sent a list of ten questions and asked to answer whichever ones they liked – only this time the topics were dark and terrifying explorations of the twisted side of human nature…

…okay, not really – most of the questions are about candy.

In any case, these are their best answers, lightly edited. We hope they’ll give you an additional window into our (spooky) corner of the world.

DANE vice president

Q: What is the longest you’ve seen a neighbor leave their pumpkins on the porch?

A: My sister Paige left hers out until December last year. Does that count?

Q: If money was no object and you had access to professional Hollywood costumers capable of transforming you into almost anything, what would you be for Halloween?

A: The Xenomorph from Alien for sure. With acidic saliva and a sharp tail!

Q: Which classic movie monster (Dracula, Frankenstein, the Mummy etc…) do you think you’d have the best chance against? Why?

A: Probably Freddy Krueger. I can stay up for long periods of time. And when I go to sleep, I rarely ever have dreams. I don’t think he could touch me.

Q: What is the earliest Halloween costume you remember wearing?

A: I was in in 4th grade and was a wounded patient with gauze wrap and Band-Aids in a wagon. My friend pulled it and she was the nurse. We won 1st place in our Halloween Parade.

Q: If money was no object and you had access to professional Hollywood costumers capable of transforming you into almost anything, what would you be for Halloween?

A: I would want to be Wonder Woman so I could fly all over the world and drop candy from my invisible airplane for everyone to enjoy.

JESSICA order facilitator

Q: What movie scared you most as a kid?

A: The Exorcist. After watching that movie, I used to think my bed was shaking, so I could never get to sleep.

Q: Chocolate or Fruit candy? Defend your choice…

A: Definitely Chocolate! Chocolate/peanut butter combo is the most delicious thing for every holiday!

Q: What is the earliest Halloween costume you remember wearing?

A: My friend and I dressed as babies one year… cloth diaper, bonnet, pacifier and all! I think we were about 9 or 10.

KIMBERLY customer service agent

Q: Be honest – how old were you when you stopped Trick-or-Treating?

A: 13

Q: Agree or disagree: Halloween music is better than Christmas music. If you disagree defend your wrong answer.

A: Disagree- Christmas music is upbeat, cheerful and makes us think about someone other than ourselves.

Q: Which classic movie monster (Dracula, Frankenstein, the Mummy etc…) do you think you’d have the best chance against? Why?

A: Frankenstein. I know I could outrun him.

TIFFANY order facilitator

Q: Are ghosts real? Give evidence to support your conclusion…

A: I don’t think so. The pictures or videos I’ve seen supporting that they are real appears to be extremely fake or explainable by another cause.

Q: What is the longest you’ve seen a neighbor leave their pumpkins on the porch?

A: No judgment at all, but probably January.

Q: When you were growing up, what was your parents’ go-to candy to give out on Halloween?

A: My parents usually bought Kit Kats & Reese’s because those were my favorites and we always had a bunch left over.

MARJORIE customer service agent

Q: Chocolate or Fruit candy? Defend your choice…

A: Chocolate – mom and dad didn’t monitor the fruit.

Q: Agree or disagree: Halloween music is better than Christmas music. If you disagree defend your wrong answer.

A: Disagree. I love beautiful, peaceful Christmas music

HOLLY return coordinator

Q: What is the earliest Halloween costume you remember wearing?

A: I remember going as a witch one year. It was so cold that Halloween and specifically remember all of the extra layers I had to wear to go trick-or-treating.

Q: What is the longest you’ve seen a neighbor leave their pumpkins on the porch?

A: I have seen uncarved pumpkins last all the way through Thanksgiving!

ADAM customer service agent

Q: What movie scared you most as a kid?

A: ET. It isn’t a horror movie, but it might as well have been to five-year-old me. I was terrified of ET’s football-shaped head and his incredibly long and skinny neck – also his weird fingers and slimy skin! I had ET-centric nightmares for YEARS. In fact, I’m a little scared now writing about it.

Q: Agree or disagree: Halloween music is better than Christmas music. If you disagree defend your wrong answer.

A: Agree! Two words: Monster Mash.
